First Impression Costco diamonds

At the beginning, it’s important to clarify we’re discussing the first impression with Costco diamonds, not the wholesale itself. Because who doesn’t love Costco? You can find absolutely everything you’re looking for at reasonable prices. But, let’s get back to jewelry review, shall we. To find the selection of jewelry, click here.

When it comes to physical location, Costco’s jewelry store isn’t overly impressive. For example, it was impossible to find knowledgeable staff members who would provide an in-depth insight into the diamonds and its characteristics. Plus, value added services are non-existent.

It’s safe to say you choose diamond ring the same way you would choose a shampoo or some piece of decoration. For the purpose of the review, we opted for 0.70ct I VS2 round in solitaire setting, but the diamond had no certificate whatsoever.

Although the diamond had a nice cut, it was presented as “I” color, but in reality, it was “J” color. However, the ring was decent, eye clean, not bad as you would imagine.

“A lot of people look at Costco jewelry because they think it will be cheaper in price – which is far from true. You could purchase a better quality, larger diamond from an online jeweler such as James Allen for the same price.”

Lackluster Setting Selection

One of the major problems with Costco’s jewelry is a limited selection – much less than you would find at other online jewellers like James Allen or Blue Nile. Walk into any store and you won’t find more than 10-20 options. Despite the fact that craftsmanship and quality are decent, there is no room for personal touches and it can be difficult for someone to find the perfect ring with limited options available.

Take a look at their official website (link provided above) and you’ll notice the selection is limited there as well. Although nice appearance and quality do matter, it is crucial to ensure more choices for people with different style and preferences. A certain style may appear to one person, but it may be awful to another. With limited selection, Costco’s diamonds only appeal to one group of customers, which is never a good sign.

Value of CostCo jewelry

The ring we bought for the purpose of this review was really nice and, as mentioned, quality is decent. That said, there is simply no value to the ring. Including tax, the ring cost about $3,503.99, but the product doesn’t justify its price. There are too many shortcomings to conclude the ring has a deep value.

On the other hand, you can check out some online-only websites and get high-quality products at lower prices, without tax. Since Costco online jewelry is basically available everywhere, you find also comes with State sales tax, which only increases its price. However, using online-only diamond stores helps you avoid this step and save more money.

Conclusion

While we love Costco, their jewelry store needs more improvements. Staff lacks basic knowledge about items they are in charge for, limited selection of diamonds, and no certifications are just some of many problems. While quality and craftsmanship are decent, to provide quality service it is essential to take care of other factors as well. Although you won’t be disappointed with the quality of purchase, Costco is not the best place to purchase to save some money, which is kind of ironic since they can help you save up with everything else. For comparison purposes, we recommend you look into this online retailer instead. They are the recipients of our prestigious 5 Diamond Award.
